As you all know our good friend, Tom is facing a difficult time battling cancer. Rather than driving Tom and his family nuts answering everyones questions about his status I thought a blog would be helpful for everyone.
If you visit or talk with Tom, please update this blog with any information you feel comfortable sharing with everyone else.
As of yesterday, 1/8/2009, Tom is fighting some sort of infection in his lungs which is preventing the surgery to remove a tumor on his brain. Once the infection is cleared up, they will proceed with the surgery. Don't know when that might be - do any of you have that information?
Please keep Tom in your prayers......

I visited Tom today at lunch time. He looks better. Still on the oxygene. He got some physical therapy yesterday to help clear up the fluids in his lung.
ReplyDeleteThere's a change in the treatment plan, too. The new plan is to operate on his lung cancer first, and remove the brain tumor later. This could be cautiously interpreted as good news. A week ago, they only suggested chemo for the lungs.
In other information, there are different types of lung cancer. The kind of cancer Tom has is the "better" one. In other words, it is less aggressive.
